Have you always enjoyed being in the kitchen?
Yes! I can remember being four years old and crumbling oatmeal cookies into a bowl of water and microwaving it. I was always eager to empty the measuring cup, stir the batter, and lick the spoon. As I got older I would try to make dinner for my grandparents when they would visit. When I was living in residence throughout college people were always shocked that I didn’t have a microwave in my room. I would have to get creative when preparing (healthy) meals on a budget using only a hot plate and a toaster oven. Coming home to a fully equipped kitchen was one of the many things that I looked forward to on weekends and holidays. Thankfully my cooking skills have improved since my microwaved cookie days!
Do you follow a specific diet?
Like I mentioned before, I try not to put a title on the way that I eat. I find it leaves me feeling obligated to eat or even live a certain way. With that being said, I don’t tolerate gluten or dairy very well so I tend to limit my consumption of those two things.
Are you a certified nutritionist?
I’ve completed a one-year program through the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN) and received the Registered Holistic Nutritionist (R.H.N.) designation. I have also taken several nutrition courses throughout college and while working in the natural health and supplement industry.
Who takes your photos?
Me! I’ve been dabbling in food photography for the past few years. It can be challenging but extremely rewarding when a photo turns out just right! Below is my very first photo to be accepted by foodgawker.
